Picklin' Pickles

Updated: Feb 15, 2023

Okay I know I keep saying each recipe is the easiest but this one is SOOO EASY!!!

We love pickled veggies, from jalapeños to asparagus but nothing beats the classic pickle. Personally, we like everything with an extra kick so we always throw in a few serranos or jalapeños to whatever we're pickling. If you're not a fan of the spice, skip the peppers! Here's our handy dandy pickling recipe- - -

Start by chopping up your cucumbers to your desired thickness or thinness. My cuts are always all over the place but we like them on the thinner side.

BRINE TIME

Next up is the brine! Grab your vinegar, water, sugar & a measuring cup. We LOVE these homemade pickles mostly because they are not as sweet and sugary as store bought.

~We use equal parts vinegar and water- 1 cup white vinegar, 1 cup water.

Put your liquids in a pot and get that on the stove.

~Add in 4tablespoons sugar ( This sounds like a ton of sugar but I swear the vinegar kills the sweetness) & 2 tablespoons of salt.

~Over medium heat, dissolve the sugar and salt into your vinegar water, this usually take a few minutes. *Stir while everything dissolves!!*

~You can add peppercorn, garlic, dill or any seasoning that you'd like. We use 5-6 peppercorns, 2 garlic cloves & a shake of dill. We also throw in a few spicy peppers.

That's it y'all. Add that brine to your jars and DONE! There's your homemade pickles.

For these measurements we use a pint jar. You can easily double the recipe if your jar is bigger or if you're making multiple jars. We sometimes have extra brine that we just store in the fridge and use for the next round of picklin'.
