HOMEMADE RED WINE VINEGAR

No need to throw out the end of that red wine bottle sitting on your counter, upgrade your wine to a tasty, home made vinegar in a few simple steps!

Who else has poured old red wine down the drain?!

I use to think that when a bottle sat out for too long, it was trash.

Little did I know, "spoiled" red wine is the star ingredient in red wine vinegar!!

I know I keep saying "this is the easiest recipe" but I really mean it.

This is THE easiest recipe.

All you need to do is a little math, little pouring

then you can kick back and let science do it's thang.

What you need to do is dilute your wine with water so that

the alcohol percentage is between 5-10%.

((If your wine is already between those number...

what is you doin?! Jk, it's fine, you do you. ))

Anyway, you'll probably need to dilute the wine of your choice

so here's a little calculator to help - - -

*scroll down to the "alcohol dilution" section

Once your wine is diluted to 5-10% (we always shoot for 10%),

you're ready to add the apple cider vinegar.

It's important to use raw ACV so that the "mother" vinegar is added to your wine.

The "mother" is what transforms the wine to vinegar.

You'll need to add 20% ACV to your diluted wine.

Alright! Now it's time to cover your jar with a coffee filter or

cheese cloth and store your jar in a safe place.

You'll need to let the "mother" work her magic for 6-8 weeks.

During that time you can try your vinegar to see how the flavor changes over time.

Once the vinegar is to your liking, you're ready to bottle!

You'll need to strain your vinegar before you bottle it up.

We use a little strainer that was included in a hot sauce kit from years ago.'

Whatever you have, make sure the holes are small enough

to catch the "mother" vinegar.

There ya have it!

After you strain the "mother" out, you're done!

We use old kombucha bottles for vinegars which have worked great.

Any glass bottle with work!!
